“Black Dirt Bottled in Bond Apple Jack Apple Brandy has both soft notes of apple and baking spice as well as the strong backbone of a bonded apple brandy—a combination that works harmoniously in your fall cocktail creations,” says Haley. But in addition to a perfect canvas for mixing, brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect on their own after a meal.
Leah’s recommendation is a classic: Laird’s Bottled in Bond Straight Apple Brandy. “Hailing from New Jersey, this woman-run distillery is one of the oldest in the country. Laird’s spends four years in barrel and is bottled at 100 proof. This produces a full-bodied brandy with notes of spice.” The high proof of the spirit provides a nice warm backbone to cocktails.
“Copper & Kings Floodwall Apple Brandy is one of my favorite apple distillates to use in cocktails. Clocking in at 100 proof, it's aged for a minimum of four years, and unlike other apple distillates I've found, is finished in a mix of bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry casks, which gives it a nuanced, ‘Scotch-like’ note with flowers and honey backed up by a fresh and lively aroma of apples,” says Jason.
